Lessons Learned from Accelerated National Review of IMAM Guidelines

This multilingual webinar took place on Tuesday, 25 November, 15:00 – 16:30 CET/Geneva time

Watch recording  (EN & FR)

The IMAM guidelines are vital for preventing and treating severe malnutrition in children. During this webinar, participants dove into the technical content of the updated National IMAM guidelines based on the 2023 WHO recommendations from three countries – Nepal, Uganda, and Mauritania – which have successfully revised their National IMAM guidelines to their local context.

Participants gained a deeper understanding of the specific technical adaptations and strategies incorporated into the National IMAM guidelines. The session highlights:

  1. Adapting WHO 2023 Recommendations: Tailoring the 2023 WHO recommendations on wasting to the country's specific National IMAM guidelines, ensuring a more effective local response.
  2. Revised Guidelines for Emergencies: Creating updated national guidelines with specific technical content for managing wasting during special circumstances, such as in emergencies.

Lessons for Implementation: Using insights gained from reviewing guidelines to anticipate and address challenges that health workers might face when they begin using the new protocols.

🎧 The webinar recording is available with audio tracks in English, and French.
